Haven Interior Design Project

This family moved from city life in downtown Chicago to the northern burbs and although in love with the additional square footage, their new home needed a lot of updates. They did not know many locals, but when the homeowner stopped by the boutique, she fell in love with the esthetic and after presenting my design ideas for a cohesive design, they decided to move forward in working with me. We began in the foyer, living room, and dining room areas, with plans to move onto the kitchen in a year or two. Being the only woman in a house with a husband and two sons, this client knew she wanted a space of refuge and relaxation away from the day-to-day hustle and noise. The rooms needed to be sophisticated and beautiful, but also very approachable and practical. We decided on a slightly feminine, warm, neutral palate that we could easily incorporate into the rest of the main floor design; the current one as well as the one we would later remodel – not an easy task. The results were magnificent! We even surprised her husband with a gorgeous bar that can be left open while entertaining and closed when not in use – he was thrilled! Earlier this year, we began a complete remodel of their kitchen – we are nearly finished, and I cannot wait to share before and after photos!
I am thrilled to be sending this post from my new beautifully designed living room while I peer into an equally fantastic dining room and foyer! From talking over my ideas for spaces that are comfortable and calm with a touch of feminine and glam (in this house full of men/boys) to negotiating and organizing the contractors, Maria was a pro! She took into consideration our lifestyle, travel, likes/dislikes and was able to adapt it to our budget and timeline. As I am an habitually indecisive person, Maria learned to present 2-3 options for the big ticket items while taking care of the details–a blessing when life got crazy. She has a gift for stylizing and organization and is just a really special and fun person to be around. I would definitely recommend Maria Fricano for your next design project!
